In conversation with the Hindustan Times, Rajpal Yadav opened up about his time in jail. He said, "The most difficult part was being away from my family. Beyond that, I accepted the routine. I would wake up early and focus on breathing exercises and maintaining mental balance."

The actor added that the matter has been ongoing in the court for several years. He shared, "I believed it was right to handle it legally." His wife, Radha, who was also part of the conversation, added, "Every possible legal and respectful option was explored. Sometimes resolution is not just about willingness; it also depends on timing."Rajpal chimed in that after his release, he straightaway went to his niece's wedding in Shahjahanpur and was "grateful" to be with his family. He said, "Being around loved ones in that moment meant a great deal after a difficult phase."
His wife added that the matter has not been resolved as of now; however, they are taking "one step at a time."

In short, Rajpal Yadav borrowed a loan of Rs 5 crore to finance his debut film, 'Ata Pata Laapata', in 2010. The film was released in 2012 but tanked at the box office. Due to this, the actor failed to repay the loan. Over the years, interest over the principal amount and with cheque bounce charges piled up, making it almost Rs 9 crore.
