Rajpal Yadav's funniest films to watch on OTT

Celebrated for his impeccable comic timing and instantly recognisable expressions, Rajpal Yadav has become one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved comic actors. Born on March 16, 1971, the actor rose from modest beginnings to establish himself as a scene-stealer in several Bollywood hits. Whether playing eccentric side characters or memorable supporting roles, Rajpal Yadav often manages to grab the spotlight even in films led by big stars.
On the occasion of his birthday, here’s revisiting some of his most hilarious performances that continue to entertain audiences on OTT platforms.

2/7

‘Phir Hera Pheri’

In the cult comedy sequel ‘Phir Hera Pheri’, Rajpal Yadav plays the lively and somewhat gullible Pappu Patekar, the brother of Rimi Sen’s character Anjali. Directed by Neeraj Vora, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in the lead roles. As the story revolves around a chaotic money-doubling scam involving Sharat Saxena’s Tiwari Seth, Pappu accidentally gets dragged into the madness, creating several laugh-out-loud situations with his frantic reactions and comic timing. OTT Platform: Netflix / Amazon Prime Video

3/7

‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’

Priyadarshan’s horror-comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ featured Rajpal Yadav as the eccentric Chhote Pandit, a quirky priest known for his red-painted face and dramatic behaviour. The film starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Shiney Ahuja and Ameesha Patel in pivotal roles. Even amid the film’s suspenseful narrative, Rajpal Yadav’s exaggerated antics and witty dialogue delivery brought much-needed comic relief. The character became so popular that he later reprised it in the franchise’s later installments including ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’. OTT Platform: Netflix

4/7

‘Bhagam Bhag’

In Priyadarshan’s madcap comedy ‘Bhagam Bhag’, Rajpal Yadav portrayed Ghulam Lakhan ‘Gullu’ Singh, a small-time criminal who gets caught up in a whirlwind of confusion involving murder and mistaken identities. The film features a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Govinda, Paresh Rawal and Lara Dutta. Rajpal Yadav’s quirky performance added another layer of humour to the already chaotic storyline, making many of his scenes unforgettable. OTT Platform: Amazon Prime Video

5/7

'Partner'

David Dhawan’s hit comedy ‘Partner’ saw Rajpal Yadav in the hilarious role of Chhota Don, a parody of the famous Don character often associated with Shah Rukh Khan. The film starred Salman Khan and Govinda as the central duo, with Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta as the female leads. Despite a relatively small role, Rajpal Yadav’s high-pitched voice, comic swagger and exaggerated style turned Chhota Don into one of the film’s most entertaining elements. OTT Platform: Amazon Prime Video

6/7

‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’

In the romantic comedy ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’, Rajpal Yadav appeared as Paul, also known as Raj Purohit. Directed by David Dhawan, the film starred Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. Although his screen time was limited, Rajpal Yadav’s impeccable comic timing added extra humour to the ongoing rivalry between Sameer and Sunny, making his scenes memorable for audiences. OTT Platform: Amazon Prime Video

7/7

‘Chup Chup Ke’

Another fan-favourite comedy featuring Rajpal Yadav is ‘Chup Chup Ke’, directed by Priyadarshan. The film stars Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty in key roles. Rajpal Yadav played Bandya, one of the quirky assistants in the household run by Paresh Rawal’s character. His interactions with the other characters, filled with confusion and witty moments, added several light-hearted scenes to the film’s narrative. OTT Platform: Amazon Prime Video
