Rajkummar Hirani’s immigration comedy, Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathan’ to Atlee’s next: 6 upcoming projects of Shah Rukh Khan that we are excited about

After entertaining his audience on screen for about three decades now, Shah Rukh Khan is going beyond films and backing content-rich projects. While his fans are all praise for his endeavours, they are eagerly waiting to see him back on screen. And for all those people, we come bearing good news!

After a hiatus of two years, Shah Rukh has lined up some very interesting projects ahead of him. From Rajkumar Hirani’s immigration comedy to Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathan’ to Atlee’s commercial entertainer, here are six upcoming projects of King Khan that we are excited about!

Siddharth Anand’s ‘Pathan’

Shah Rukh Khan has teamed up with ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’ director Siddharth Anand for this. The film reportedly also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles. This is the first time that SRK and John will be seen sharing the screen space.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, ‘Pathan’ is scheduled to go on floors by the end of November this year and will be reportedly shot over eight months in multiple countries. While the November schedule will be in Mumbai only with SRK, Deepika and John will join him early next year during an overseas stint of the film. The film is expected to wrap up by June 2021 and slated to release in the last quarter of next year.

Rajkumar Hirani’s immigration comedy

Fans of Shah Rukh Khan are especially excited about the actor’s collaboration with ace filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. The untitled film is said to be a social comedy revolving around immigration. The Baadshah of Bollywood will be playing the role of a man who moves to Canada from Punjab.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, “Like all Raju films, the film revolves around a serious, globally relevant issue and is treated with gentle humour. The story moves between Punjab and Canada. This guy is jovial, he’ll make you laugh and get emotional. Shah Rukh is growing his hair for the part.” This venture was scheduled to go on floors in August this year, but the pandemic has postponed the shoot.

4/7

Atlee’s commercial entertainer

Shah Rukh Khan’s collaboration with South director ‘Atlee’ of ‘Bigil’ fame is the most hyped one amongst his upcoming films. SRK will be seen playing a double role as a special force officer and a dreaded gangster in the film. The film is currently being scripted. He is said to reunite with Deepika Padukone yet again in the film.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Shah Rukh will be flying out Atlee’s entire team to Mumbai this December as they are on the verge of locking the script. The ace director has been developing the script remotely with Karan Johar’s team who is co-producing the film along with SRK. Atlee will be setting up his new office here as it won’t be feasible to travel from Chennai to Mumbai every month in the middle of a pandemic.

Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK’s action-thriller

Shah Rukh Khan has also signed up for a comedy action-thriller which will be directed by Raj & Krishna DK. The actor will reportedly be producing this stylish movie that will be shot in exotic locations in India and abroad.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Shah Rukh has signed the action film with Raj and DK that will go on the floors next year. The report added that it is a space he hasn’t explored yet. An international stunt crew will be designing the action in the film.

SRK is expected to be paired opposite an A-list actress for this film, which the makers were aiming to release in 2021.

6/7

Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’

Apart from these biggies, Shah Rukh Khan is also making his presence felt in some interesting upcoming films by doing special cameos in them. He will be seen playing a scientist in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’. SRk’s character is said to be an aid to Ranbir Kapoor’s character that helps push the story forward.

‘Brahmastra’ stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in lead roles. It also features Amitabh Bachchan, Dimple Kapadia, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy in key roles. Before the pandemic, it was slated to hit the theatres on December 4 this year.

7/7

R Madhavan’s ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’

Reports of Shah Rukh Khan’s special cameo in R Madhavan’s directorial debut, ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ has been doing the rounds for a long time now. According to reports, SRK will be seen playing the role of a journalist in the film.

Shah Rukh Khan’s character will reportedly give an insight into scientist Nambi Narayanan’s life through his interviews and flashbacks. The movie is a biographical drama based on the life of the scientist and ISRO aerospace engineer.
