Project K, Don, Coolie: When Amitabh Bachchan sustained major injuries on the film sets

Amitabh Bachchan on Monday had fans concerned about his health after he was injured on the sets of his latest film 'Project K'. In his blog post, the star also announced that he is currently at his Mumbai residence and has been advised rest to make a full recovery. This is not the first time that the superstar was hurt on a film set. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan left fans concerned when he posted on his blog, Sunday night that he sustained a rib injury while working in Hyderabad on the science fiction film 'Project K'. The star wrote that he had a damaged rib cartilage and a muscle tear and said that the injury was "painful". After being rushed to the hospital and seeking treatment, he was flown home to Mumbai, where he has been advised to rest. He also announced that work on the film has been suspended until he’s healed.

This is not the first time Amitabh Bachchan injured his rib cage. A few years ago, while shooting for his film 'TE3N', the actor revealed that he hurt his rib while shooting and was prescribed painkillers and rest. Assuring fans that the injury was not that grave, he wrote in his blog, "No nothing to worry... I have injured my rib cage, it pains and so when I breathe it hurts. Am doing ice-pack and pain-killers, spoken to my doctor... should take 48 hours to heal, he says. Else we do X-Ray or MRI or whatever he decides."

Back in 2022, Amitabh Bachchan informed fans that he cut a vein in his left leg while on the sets of his game show, 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. "A jutting piece of metal sliced my left calf and managed to cut the vein .. the vein when cut spurts out the ‘red’ uncontrollably .. but had the nerve to get the doc and so into an OT and the stitching up .. (sic)", he had written on his blog at the time.

Ajay Devgn on Monday revealed that Megastar Amitabh Bachchan performed some daring stunts on the sets of 'Major Saab' that lead to 'an injury in that film'. The actor narrated an incident from the sets and said, "I remember him getting injured while doing Major Saab. He insisted he will jump from some thirty feet. It was three floors high, and I told him let’s not do this shot. I mean we can work it out with duplicates. We both were supposed to jump and he insisted we'll do it. We had an injury in that film also. So it's that enthusiasm."

During the filming of Piku, Bachchan was spotted with a neck brace that many suspected was because of an injury on the sets. However, the actor, in his blog explained that he did suffer injuries, but it was from way back during the filming of don. He wrote, "Many have, yes, seen the picture with the neck brace and have expressed either exclamation or remedy, or surprise. It's factual and it's on my neck, because the neck is strained. These are recurrences of old action and stunt injuries right from the time of Don and several other films that came after that have involved my physical movements for action deeds going horribly wrong."

The infamous accident during the filming of an action sequence on the sets of the 1983 film landed Bachchan in hospital with severe stomach injuries and internal bleeding. In fact, the injuries were so severe that Bachchan was declared clinically dead for a couple of minutes before the doctors injected adrenaline into his heart, in a last-ditch attempt to revive him.
