Priyanka Chopra said NO to these 5 hit films - Guess who got them instead

Priyanka Chopra’s career trajectory showcases her as an actress who has earned both critical praise and box office success. Some of her most notable films are 'Aitraaz', 'Don', 'Barfi', 'Mary Kom', 'Dil Dhadakne Do', and 'Bajirao Mastani'. Beyond Bollywood, she has also made a mark internationally, starring in Hollywood movies and global web series, firming her status as a worldwide star. However, Priyanka has also turned down several projects that eventually became major box office successes.

'Bharat'

Priyanka Chopra was originally signed to star opposite Salman Khan in the film 'Bharat'. However, she walked out of the project just five days before filming was to begin due to her wedding preparations with Nick Jonas in December 2018. The sudden exit was reportedly because the shooting dates clashed with her wedding schedule. Subsequently, Katrina Kaif replaced her in the lead female role opposite Salman Khan in 'Bharat'. The film went on to be released in June 2019.

3/6

'Sultan'

The female lead role of Aarfa Ali Khan in the Salman Khan starrer 'Sultan' was initially offered to Priyanka Chopra, as per Hindustan Times. Instead of accepting the role herself, she recommended her cousin Parineeti Chopra for the part, hoping to support Parineeti’s career revival. Ultimately, the role went to Anushka Sharma, who portrayed Aarfa opposite Salman in this 2016 blockbuster.

4/6

'Cocktail'

Deepika Padukone's film 'Cocktail' is widely recognized as the project that marked a major turning point in her acting career. Interestingly, she was not the initial pick for the role of Veronica. The part was first offered to Priyanka Chopra, who decided to pass on it due to doubts about the film's success potential. Directed by Homi Adajania, the film stars Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty in the lead roles.

'Race 2'

Priyanka Chopra was reportedly the first choice to play the role of Alina Malik opposite Saif Ali Khan in the film 'Race 2', as per Film Companion. However, due to scheduling conflicts with the filming of 'Don 2', she had to pass on the offer. The role eventually went to Deepika Padukone, who starred in the successful sequel released in 2013. The change allowed Deepika to take on the role that Chopra was initially considered for, continuing the franchise's success

6/6

'2 States'

The lead role of Ananya Swaminathan in '2 States', which was eventually played by Alia Bhatt, was initially offered to Priyanka Chopra. However, Chopra had to decline the role due to her busy schedule at the time, including commitments to films like 'Krrish 3' and 'Barfi'. This opened the door for Alia to take on the role, which became a significant milestone in her career. The film '2 States', directed by Abhishek Varman and produced by Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala, is based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel, portraying a Punjabi-Tamil love story facing cultural clashes.
