Richa Chadha has always been a powerhouse performer. The Bollywood actress was last seen in the film, Section 375 that had her playing a lawyer, who had to fight it out with Akshaye Khanna in the courtroom. Though the film was appreciated by the critics, some felt that her role wasn’t meaty enough. Speaking about it, Richa feels that such comparisons are not right.
She said that when she acted in Gangs of Wasseypur, nobody felt that Manoj Bajpayee’s role was meatier than hers. She feels that’s people are now making such comments because they have started expecting that her every role will be on the lines of Bholi Punjaban from Fukrey, where she mouths the punchlines. Richa looks at this as a kind of a stereotype in the viewers’ minds that she doesn’t take seriously.
Talking about her career trajectory, in a recent interview, Richa said, “In the last two-three years, I have had some solid ups and downs. On several occasions, I’ve felt like my career has wound up. I was sad and upset; my roles were snipped, and I wasn’t treated fairly. I’ve experienced all these things, but now, I feel, with all the work in the pipeline, I am in a happy space, finally. Trust me, with the kind of roles I have played, it’s a miracle that I still have a career. I am a miracle.”
