Netizens divided over reports of Ranveer Singh being paired with 19 year-old Sara Arjun: 'She was 5 when Band Baaja Baarat released'

Ranveer Singh is teaming up with filmmaker Aditya Dhar for an upcoming big-budget project, which also stars R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal among others. The film was announced a while ago, and according to a recent report by Peeping moon, former child actor Sara Arjun will be playing the leading lady in the film opposite Ranveer.

As per the report, Ranveer will be romancing Sara Arjun in the upcoming film, however, this hasn't been well-received by the internet. The fact that Sara Arjun is just 19, has sparked conversations on social media. A 39-year-old Ranveer Singh romancing, a girl half his age has not gone down well with movie buffs. Reddit is abuzz with conversations surrounding the casting, and a netizen criticised the makers for casting the young actress opposite Ranveer Singh. A user said, "She was 5 years old when Band Baaja Baarat released.” Another Reddit user was taken aback by the news and wrote, “Eww 39 year old romancing a teenager!?? How did they think this was ok.”

Many netizens came in support of Ranveer Singh and said that the makers are to be blamed for the casting. "Ranveer didn't choose her as heroine... so no need to demonise him,” a user said.

Another pointed out that the age gap between hero and heroine have always existed in Bollywood. "Don't Deepika and Anushka both have 20+ age gap with SRK and they both debuted when they were around 19-20 age," a person asked. Another said, "Ya that was also disgusting and so is this."


Meanwhile, the makers of the film has neither confirmed nor denied the news yet.
