Neetu Chandra on her recent ramp walk in New York; shares memories of how her mother made garments for her
“Fashion has always been an intrinsic part of my being,” says Neetu Chandra, who recently walked the ramp at the New York Fashion Week. The actress felt proud representing India abroad. About her experience she tells us, “Walking the ramp at NYFW was exhilarating! I felt proud representing India on a global platform. As I strutted down the ramp alongside international celebrities, I felt a sense of calm confidence. The experience was surreal, yet empowering. Being a sportswoman, I carry my confidence on my sleeves, the excitement of showcasing a luxury workwear brand’s unique blend of style and comfort was immense. Representing India abroad was an honor; I hoped to make my country proud, and I’m humbled by the experience.”
The actress says that the fashion bug bit her quite early in life. Sharing an interesting bit about her mom, Neetu told us, “Growing up, I’d watch Bollywood films and mesmerize over Sridevi’s Rekha ji’s iconic styles. My mother, a skilled tailor, would create beautiful garments for me. As a Taekwondo player, I’d stylishly mix athletic wear with elegance. Acting career amplified my fashion sense, now I love experimenting with global styles, blending comfort with glamour, and empowering women through fashion.”
Talking about the time she spent in New York, the actress concluded saying, “New York is exhilarating! As a performer, I’m immersed in Broadway shows, fashion events, and industry meetings. I cherish strolls through Central Park, Times Square’s energy, and diverse cuisine. The Brooklyn Bridge’s views leave me breathless. NY’s cosmopolitan charm and 24/7 pace align with my energetic nature, making it my favorite destination. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, every corner reveals a new experience. NY, you have my heart!”
