Nayanthara to Kangana Ranaut: Actresses who turned down films with Shah Rukh Khan

Bollywood Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan is most definitely on every actress' dream casting list. That is why when stars reveal they turned down a role with the King, it comes as a shocker to fans. From Nayanthara to Kangana Ranaut, late Sridevi and more, here's a list of actresses who turned down roles opposite SRK.

2/6

Nayanthara

Nayanthara made headlines on Tuesday after reportedly quitting director Atlee's next starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. According to reports, the actress opted out citing professional reasons. She had kept reportedly kept her calendar free for the film's October and November shoot, but owing to sudden delays due to the Aryan Khan drug case, and her next film schedules set to roll soon, the actress reportedly chose to bow out of the film.

3/6

Samantha

Before Nayanthara, rumours were rife that Samantha turned down the leading lady's role opposite Shah Rukh for the Atlee directorial. At the time, it was reported that Samantha had some 'personal' reasons for turning down the film. Reports went as far as claiming that she was planning to go the family way with her now estranged husband, Naga Chaitanya.

4/6

Kangana Ranaut

Before SRK could take a sabbatical from his acting career, he worked on 'Zero' with director Aanand L. Rai. At the time, reports were rife that the film was offered to Kangana Ranaut, who worked with Rai in 'Tanu Weds Manu'. But, as the tabloids tell us, the actress turned down the part of the female lead as she wanted a role as 'solid' as her previous film with the director.

The actress also famously said that although she is a huge SRK fan, "it's very unfortunate that our paths will never cross."

5/6

Sridevi

While Shah Rukh Khan's 'Zero' marked Sridevi's last big-screen appearance, did you know that she had previously turned down a role in 'Darr'? Apparently, the makers wanted Sridevi to play the leading role. However, according to reports, the actress turned down the part as it was something she had done several times in the past.

6/6

Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor rejected many big-ticket films in her career, and one of them was opposite Shah Rukh Khan titled 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai'. Although her reason for turning down the role in the iconic film is still a mystery, she is not the only actress who rejected the part. It has been reported that stars from Twinkle Khanna to Urmila Matondkar, Tabu and Raveena Tandon all declined this offer.
