Nargis Dutt

Nargis Dutt, known for her powerful roles in films like Mother India, was one of the first celebrated actors in Bollywood to fall victim to cancer. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the late 1970s, she sought treatment in the United States. Tragically, she passed away in 1981, just days before the release of her son Sanjay Dutt's debut film. During the premiere of Rocky, a chair was left vacant in loving memory of her. However, Namrata Dutt claimed that her mother had actually died due to a urinary tract infection, having successfully fought cancer. Her death left a deep void in the film industry and among her admirers.
