First big release post lockdown

Theatres were opened a few months ago, but it is only now that big-ticket movies are hitting the screens. ‘Mumbai Saga’ is one such entertainer, which promises high-octane action, drama, and foot-tapping music. Ahead of the film’s release, the makers unveiled the love ballad ‘Lut Gaye’, which set the tone for the movie, and also offered a glimpse of Emraan Hashmi’s love story in the film.

Engaging story

Director Sanjay Gupta is known for narrating engaging stories and, with ‘Mumbai Saga’, he promises yet another edge-of-the-seat thriller. The film is set in the 1980s and 90s and will focus on John Abraham, who plays a gangster, and Emraan Hashmi, who will be essaying the role of a cop. “It’s a commercial action-entertainer and the audience will get their money's worth,” promised Sanjay, in an interview with Mumbai Mirror.

John Abraham versus Emraan Hashmi

Two powerhouse actors, John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi, will clash for some epic drama onscreen. John’s gangster character, Amartya Rao, rules the streets of Mumbai, while Emraan Hashmi plays the role of a cop, Vijay Savvarkar, whose sole motive is to keep him in check. ‘Mumbai Saga’ features a thrilling narrative of these two characters. The makers have also shot for an action-packed confrontation between Amartya Rao and Vijay Savarkar.

Ensemble cast

Supporting John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi’s act is an ensemble cast of powerhouse actors. Suniel Shetty, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Prateik Babbar, Samir Soni, Amole Gupte, and Gulshan Grover will be playing pivotal roles in the film. ‘Mumbai Saga’ also marks Kajal Aggarwal’s first release after her wedding in 2020.
