Mumbai Rains: Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna return back home as the flight for their London vacation did not take off

', Akshay Kumar was all set to jet off to

London

with his family to spend a vacation. However, the heavy rains from the past few days in Mumbai have left the actor and his family stranded back home with the London bound plane refusing to take off.

The main of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai was shut due to a SpiceJet flight overshooting the tarmac on Monday night due to heavy rainfall in the city. Over 100 flights have been cancelled or diverted to different airports.

Akshay's wife Twinkle Khanna took to her twitter handle to announce that they have sailed back home to safety. Twinkle tweeted, "The captain was better off commandeering a ship than an aircraft last night, planes skidding, runways flooded and we all sailed back home #DisableAirplaneMode"


Earlier, Akshay Kumar along with his family was spotted at the Mumbai airport to leave for their London vacation. Akshay was seen carrying his daughter Nitara who is sleeping in his arms and Twinkle walking ahead of the two.
