The movie derives its title from the code name assigned to Captain Vikram Batra in recognition of his heroic actions during the Kargil War.

Sam Bahadur depicts the tale of India's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw who led India to victory in the 1971 war against Pakistan, which led to the birth of Bangladesh.

Border depicts the story of Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri and his men who were attacked by Pakistan at the Longewala post in Rajasthan during the war of 1971.

Major depicts the journey of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan from his early life to his life in the army to him making the ultimate sacrifice during the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. He was awarded Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime gallantry award on 26th January 2009.
