‘Brahmastra’ has been breaking all box office records ever since its release. The Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer went on to make over 300 crores. The film has received massive appreciation from fans and critics alike especially for the mind-blowing visuals and sound effects. Alia’s father and filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt too praised the film and called it a ‘quantum leap’.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Mahesh also praised director Ayan’s Mukerji’s vision and said that he was ‘dazzled by Brahmastra’. He shared that, when he saw the film, he felt that this is a quantum leap and added that he has no hesitation in saying that Ayan is the ‘James Cameron’ of the Indian cinema world.
He further added, the film definitely needed the backing of Uday Shankar and Karan Johar with the support of Ranbir and Alia and Ayan’s entire team, the film did turn out to be amazing. Appreciating Ayan’s craft he said he is one such filmmaker who’s going to stand up and make movies which are going to be as good as the best content that is created by the world.
When asked about the film’s overseas response, he shared that it’s good to see the audience being mesmerised by something which is rooted in India. They are rooted here and yet they are very contemporary in their packaging and the way it looks. “It has the breath of India. It’s not referenced from somewhere, it comes from his own DNA, his own gene pool.”
‘Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva’ is a modern mythological drama which took almost 6 years in making. The film revolves around Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) and his journey on discovering his magical superpowers with his unique relationship with fire. The film also stars Mouni Roy, Amitabh Bachchan and Nagarjuna Akkineni in pivotal roles and also has an extended cameo by Shah Rukh Khan.
