Lata Mangeshkar is immortal and her voice will forever echo in our memories: Alka Yagnik

Musician and singer Alka Yagnik, who has a career in

Bollywood

for more than four decades, was in deep grief, when we spoke to her about the legendary Lata Mangeshkar's demise.

Alka said, "It is a personal loss. Yesterday was Saraswati Pooja and today we can say that we are bidding adieu to someone who was like Goddess Saraswati. She was a second mother and it is a personal loss. I was always in touch with her throughout my career and spoke to her a few months back. She sounded very agile and active, so it is difficult to accept that she is no more."

also shared how Bollywood's legendary singer used to text her some of her rare songs. She said, "She used to send me her rare songs on WhatsApp, which we don't get to hear on radio, and I used to enjoy listening to them. She was very tech-savvy and with the current times."

Sharing how she grew up being inspired by her, Alka said, "Through my childhood, teenage years and even now, I have constantly been in touch with her and was even fed by her like a mother. I recall her always telling me that she liked my singing and motivated me to move ahead in life. I am in Pondicherry right now, but I will come back tomorrow."

Recalling how the Mangeshkar lived a great life, Alka shared how for her, Lata Mangeshkar is immortal. She said, "I would like to say that though it is a big loss, I feel Lata Mangeshkar is immortal and her voice will forever live and echo in our memories. For me it is difficult to choose any favourite song of Lata Mangeshkar. All her songs are my favourite songs. I have lived with them and shall continue to do so. That's the only way I can still breathe and move on.
