Kartik Aaryan from 'Good-Bye Freddie', Rekha from 'Fitoor', Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from 'Heroine': Actors who left films after signing them

Kartik Aaryan's sudden exit from two films--Shah Rukh Khan's 'Good-Bye Freddie' and Karan Johar's 'Dostana 2'--ETimes takes a look at other surprise replacements and shocking exits from films that left producers in a lurch. Read on:

2/9

Kartik Aaryan from 'Dostana 2'

The actor realised that he didn't like the script after completing 60 per cent of the film and wanted Karan Johar, the producer of the film, to sign him for the Sharan Sharma directorial. This upset the filmmaker and he asked him to leave the project. A replacement is yet to be found for Kartik.

3/9

Priyanka Chopra from 'Bharat'

Priyanka Chopra was to make a Bollywood comeback with 'Bharat' which would have marked her reunion with Salman Khan after 10 years. But then, at the last minute, she suddenly decided to exit the project. Speculations were rife that it was because she was not satisfied with the fee that she was being paid and also her billing as an actress in the film. However, she later clarified that it was her marriage plans that had forced her to exit from the film. Katrina Kaif replaced her at the last minute.

4/9

Chitrangda Singh from 'Babumoshai Bandokbaaz'

Chitrangda Singh walked out of the film over creative differences with the director Kushan Nandy. The actress did not agree with the intimate scenes that the director wanted her to shoot and therefore walked out of the film. The makers had to reshoot the film with Bidita Bag who stepped in as Chitrangda's replacement in the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-starrer.

5/9

Abhishek Bachchan from 'Paltan'

Abhishek who had made his film debut with JP Dutta's 'Refugee', agreed to be a part of 'Paltan', but then opted out of the project citing personal reasons. He later called his decision 'devastating'. Harshvardhan Rane replaced him in the film.

6/9

Smriti Irani from 'All Is Well'

The actress kept the producers waiting in Shimla to shoot the climax of the Umesh Shukla film, 'All Is Well'. However, the actress who had by then joined politics could not make time for the film. The makers had to replace her with Supriya Pathak and had to reshoot all her scenes which not only delayed the film but also added to its budget.

7/9

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from 'Heroine'

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan got pregnant just after the first schedule of the Madhur Bhandarkar film, which was in violation of the no-pregnancy contract signed by the actress. The director got to know about her pregnancy only through media reports and had to replace her with Kareena Kapoor.

8/9

Kareena Kapoor from 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela...Ramleela'

Kareena Kapoor left the set standing for 10 days and then decided to not do the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. Though there were reports about a no pregnancy clause doing the rounds, the actress chose to do 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' with Imran Khan instead. The actress does feel that she missed a chance to work with SLB and that too for the second time. She was also supposed to be Mastani when Bhansali was planning to make 'Bajirao Mastani' with Salman Khan.

9/9

Rekha from 'Fitoor'

Rekha walked out of Abhishek Kapoor's film after shooting for the entire Kashmir schedule of the romantic drama. Citing creative differences with the director, she allegedly exited as she felt that she didn't like her look and was not happy with the way her character was shaping up in the film. Tabu replaced her. Even Aditya Roy Kapoor was roped in as the male lead after Sushant Singh Rajput had left the film at the last minute.
