Kajol & Ajay Devgn: A love story carved in contrast and commitment

In 1995, the pair first got to know one another on the set of their debut movie, 'Hulchul'. It's interesting to note that Kajol was not originally assigned to the leading lady's role. But it was Kajol who made the last-minute appearance following the tragic death of Divya Bharti, who was meant to be the main heroine. Since the film was a hit and served as the foundation for Ajay and Kajol's friendship, the rest is history.

In a later interview, Kajol talked about her time dating her husband, Ajay, and how hard it was for her to connect with him because she was an extreme extrovert and Ajay has a shy personality, which made it even more awkward. Kajol and Ajay managed to break the ice in spite of these issues, and over time, their friendship developed into a lovely partnership. In an interview with the Humans of Bombay, Kajol disclosed that although she and Ajay had dated different people at one point, they eventually ended their relationships and became friends. "I was going out with somebody; I think he was going out with somebody at that point in time," she said, "and we did a film together, and we kind of became friends from there.”

The couple decided to get married after dating for nearly four years. But throughout this time, the couple had made the decision to hide their relationship from the public; on February 24, 1999, they were married in a typical Maharashtrian ceremony. Only a few of the couple's closest friends and family members were allowed to attend the private ceremony where they exchanged vows. Furthermore, to maintain the privacy, Ajay didn't hire a photographer; he himself handled the event's photography. Ajay, Following that, Ajay and Kajol departed the city to spend a month in Europe on their honeymoon.

Rumors circulated shortly after the wedding that there were problems between Kajol and her mother-in-law, Veena Devgn, even though the couple was too content to be unhappy in their marital bliss. Although neither of the family members had initially discussed it, Kajol was the one who eventually came out and denied any such rumors. Even so, her marriage relationships with her husband and in-laws were affected by these unfounded facts. "I don't believe in those rumors because I know the way this industry functions," Kajol once said, according to Scribd, recalling those testing times. “You cannot continue a marriage without the basic trust. Frankly, I don't care for such talk.”

On April 20, 2023, the couple finally welcomed their first child, a daughter named Nysa Devgn, a few years after this sad event. On September 13, 2010, seven years later, they welcomed the arrival of their son, Yug, and the family was finally complete. For them, parenthood has been the most important duty, which is filled with messy mornings, school runs, and unconditional love. In the present, Nysa and Yug are both adored by their parents, who are proud of them and completely enamored with them.

The couple met, fell in love, got married, and began a family almost 26 years ago. Their love story is about a partnership in real life, not about fairy-tale perfection.
