‘Kabir Singh’ to ‘Padmaavat’ and ‘Haider’: Shahid Kapoor’s highest box office grossers

Entertaining since 2003, Shahid Kapoor is one actor who has always surprised the audience with his onscreen acts. From playing the chocolate boy in ‘Ishq Vishk’ to a mature lover in ‘Jab We Met’ and stepping into action with ‘R…Rajkummar’ – Shahid’s career is a polarized slate of entertainment. The actor is all set to turn a year older tomorrow, and ahead of his birthday, here’s taking a look at Shahid Kapoor’s highest box office grossers.

Padmaavat – Rs 282 crore

Shahid Kapoor played an illustrious role of a Rajput king in ‘Padmaavat’. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial released after much controversy and Shahid earned a lot of praise for his royal portrayal. The film hit the screens on January 25, 2018 and banked on a Republic Day holiday. ‘Padmaavat’ earned a total collection of Rs 282 crore and is Shahid’s highest grossing film till date.

Kabir Singh – Rs 276 crore

‘Kabir Singh’ was in the news all year round and emerged as one of Shahid Kapoor’s highest grossing film. The film released on June 21, 2019 and was a remake of Telugu film ‘Arjun Reddy’. Shahid’s passionate lover boy act in the film earned him his highest solo hit as ‘Kabir Singh’ made a whopping business of Rs 276 core. Shahid romanced Kiara Advani in this film, which was also one of the highest grossers of 2019.

R…Rajkumar – Rs 65 core

Shahid Kapoor stepped into the action arena with ‘R…Rajkumar’. The action romance entertainer saw Shahid fight for the love of his life, as he romanced Sonakshi Sinha. ‘R…Rajkumar’ hit the screens on December 6, 2013 and earned Rs 65 crore at the box office. With some serious onscreen fights, Shahid swiftly transformed from being a chocolate boy to a tough lover.

Haider – Rs 49 crore

Far away from playing the romantic handsome in his earlier films, Shahid Kapoor explored a different side of his onscreen personality with this film. Vishal Bharadwaj directed ‘Haider’ was an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the film emerged a career defining role for Shahid. The film hit the screens on October 2, 2014 and raked in Rs 49 crore at the box office. Apparently Shahid Kapoor did not charge a penny for his act in this Vishal Bharadwaj directorial, since the team wanted to keep the budget in check.

Kaminey – Rs 41 crore

Before ‘Haider’, Shahid Kapoor and Vishal Bharadwaj had teamed up for ‘Kaminey’. The actor played a double role of twin brothers - one had a lisp while the other would stutter. Shahid’s convincing act won him a massive applause. ‘Kaminey’ released more than a decade ago, on August 14, 2009 and earned Rs 41 crore at the box office. And since a long time there has been a lot of buzz about a sequel to ‘Kaminey’.
