Javed Akhtar RESPONDS to Lucky Ali’s jibe, disagrees with his ‘ugly’ remark: ‘I must take his opinion with a pinch of salt’
Singer Lucky Ali, last month, criticised veteran Bollywood writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar over an old video that resurfaced online. In the clip, Akhtar was accused of making a remark about Hindu–Muslim dynamics, which sparked a wave of reactions on social media. Soon after, Lucky Ali took a personal dig at the lyricist by calling him “ugly”. His post read, “Don’t become like Javed Akhtar, never original and ugly as f**k.”
Akhtar continued, “Let him decide what he meant and what he wants. If you are tolerant, it’s good. If you are intolerant in certain matters, particularly those which are sensitive, like religious matters, then it’s not good. You have to be a tolerant person. You should… I mean, if you want to have one opinion, and you want your opinion to be heard, then you should be able to take other people’s opinions you may not agree with.”

Javed Akhtar responds to Lucky Ali’s criticism
In a recent interview with India Today, Javed Akhtar finally addressed Lucky Ali’s comment. He said, “Now, I must take Lucky Ali’s opinion with a pinch of salt. I should accept it. Although I don’t agree with it. But anyway, I’m happy to know that he has opinions. That’s wonderful.”Lucky Ali had issued an apology
After facing backlash for his words, Lucky Ali later issued what appeared to be an apology. He wrote, “What I meant was that arrogance is ugly… it was a mistaken communiqué on my part… monsters may have feelings too and I apologise if I hurt anyone’s monstrosity.”Javed Akhtar talks about importance of tolerance
When asked about Lucky Ali’s apology, in the same interview Javed Akhtar explained why tolerance and mutual respect are essential, especially while discussing sensitive topics.Akhtar continued, “Let him decide what he meant and what he wants.
Lucky Ali says no human is perfect
Lucky Ali has shown a sense of regret over his earlier comment about Javed Akhtar. Speaking to Navbharat Times, the singer recently admitted that he could have handled the situation better. He said, “No human is perfect. I’ve also made mistakes. I also regret my misbehaviour towards an elderly person. If I get the chance, I’ll surely apologise. It feels bad when someone remarks on your community time and again, particularly when he’s such a big and responsible figure. I made a mistake in my reaction. I didn’t abuse him, but my remark got blown out of proportion. I apologise if someone has gotten offended, but the responsibility is all of ours.”Get an chance to win ₹5000 Amazon Voucher by taking part in India's Biggest Habit Index! Take the survey here
