Veteran writer-director Sagar Sarhadi breathed his last on Monday after a long illness. He was 88. Following a heart problem, he was reportedly admitted to the ICU of a cardiac care hospital in Sion recently.

He was a script-writer for films like ‘Noorie’, ‘Bazaar’, ‘Kabhi Kabhie’, ‘Silsila’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Deewana’ and ‘Kaho Na Pyar Hai’.

Sagar Sarhadi, whose real name is Ganga Sagar Talwar, hails from Abbottabad, now in Pakistan. He is a veteran IPTA member who introduced artists like Farooque Shaikh and Shabana Azmi in his inter-collegiate theatre competitions for Khalsa and St Xavier's in the late 60s and early 70s.
