'Jab We Met', 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani', 'Karan Arjun': 5 films rejected by Bobby Deol

Despite being the son of superstar Dharmendra and brother of Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol made sure he created his own separate identity in the industry. He has proved his mettle as an actor time and again through his choices of projects and performances. However, it took ages to finally give Bobby his due. There are also a lot of blockbuster films that he couldn't be a part of due to various reasons. Take a look...

'Jab We Met'

Not many know that it was Bobby Deol and not Shahid Kapoor who was first approached by Imtiaz Ali for 'Jab We Met'. In an interview, Bobby had revealed that he was approached with the script and he agreed to do it. However, when they signed Kareena Kapoor, she urged the makers to sign Shahid opposite her. Bobby later came to know that the makers went ahead with Kareena and Shahid and never informed him.

'Karan Arjun'

'Karan Arjun', starring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most loved films in Bollywood. However, did you know that the makers initially wanted real brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol to star in the film together? However, Bobby was yet to make his debut during that time and his first film, 'Barsaat' was yet to be released. Bobby felt that it would be a risk to do the movie at that stage of his life so he passed on the offer.

'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani'

Ayan Mukerji's 'Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani' is one of the most iconic and loved films, especially amongst the youth. The film starred Ranbir Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Deepika Padukone, and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles. However, not many know that the makers had approached Bobby for the role of Kunaal in the movie. However, he had already given his dates for 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2', so he had to pass on the offer.

5/6

'Yuva'

Mani Ratnam initially wanted Bobby Deol for his movie 'Yuva'. The filmmaker had apparently written the role just for him. However, during that time, Bobby was not comfortable doing a three hero film and so he passed on the offer. Later the makers roped in Ajay Devgn for the role. 'Yuva' also starred Abhishek Bachchan, Esha Deol, Rani Mukerji and Vivek Oberoi in lead roles.

6/6

'Highway'

Bobby Deol and Imtiaz Ali missed the opportunity of working together during 'Jab We Met'. However, did you know that similar thing happened with Imtiaz's film, 'Highway' as well? Yes, you read that right! Bobby, in an interview, revealed that he was initially offered 'Highway' and then again Imtiaz did his own thing and went ahead with the film with some other actor. In the same interview, Bobby also said that he has told the director that he won't be watching any of his films until he makes one with him.
