Irrfan Khan-Rishi Kapoor passing away to Alia Bhatt getting trolled – here are the newsmakers of the week

Bollywood had a rather gloomy week as it lost two legends. Irrfan Khan passed away on Wednesday while veteran actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on Thursday. And while B-town was grieving, social media wrongly started trolling Alia Bhatt, while Hrithik Roshan hit headlines for a smoking controversy – here’s taking a look at all the newsmakers of Bollywood.

On April 29, Bollywood lost acting stalwart Irrfan Khan. He passed away at a hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted for colon infection. The 53-year-old actor had been battling cancer since 2018 and was buried in the presence of few close people at Versova kabrastan. Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa had later shared in a statement, “How can I write this as a family statement when the whole world is taking it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel alone when millions are grieving with us at the moment? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It’s a gain of the things he taught us, and now we shall finally begin to truly implement it and evolve.”

On April 30, yet again the world woke up to bitter news, Bollywood legend Rishi Kapoor passed away after a two-year long battle with leukaemia. “The doctors and medical staff at the hospital said he kept them entertained to the last. He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents. Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him. He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears," his family shared in a statement. Rishi Kapoor’s last rites were performed by son Ranbir Kapoor at Chandanwadi crematorium.

Alia Bhatt stood like a rock with Neetu Kapoor while Ranbir performed the last rites of his father Rishi Kapoor. Several social media users attacked Alia for holding a phone during the last rites. Alia was apparently facetiming with Ranbir's sister Riddhima in Delhi who could not make it to the last rites of her father. The actress was one of the first to reach the hospital too and stood by the Kapoor family in this difficult time.

After Rishi Kapoor passed away a leaked video of the veteran actor from the ICU made its way to the internet. The actor was captured resting on his hospital bed, while it seemed like the staff had sneakily recorded him. Film body, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) protested against the act and sent a letter to the hospital stating that the video was taken in a clandestine manner, without the permission of the patient or his family.

Sussanne Khan had shared a picture of Hrithik Roshan chilling with his kids Hrehaan and Hridaan when a curious fan asked if the actor was smoking in the click. “Does @iHrithik have a cigarette in his hand or am i seeing wrong? I hope you don’t @iHrithik. It makes me very very sorry,” she wrote. Hrithik was quick to clarify, “I am a non smoker . :) and if I was Krrish , first thing I’d do after eradicating this virus would be to decimate every last cigarette from this planet.”. Hrithik Roshan impressed the internet with his response.
