Imran Khan's reaction to the idea of his daughter dating someone like him: 'I guess that is what informs a great number of my life choices'

Bollywood actor, Imran Khan will always be remembered as the charming romantic lead from films like 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na', 'I Hate Luv Storys' and 'Mere Brother Ki Dulhan'. But away from the silver screen, the actor says one person has had the biggest influence on the choices he makes today, his daughter, Amara.

During a candid conversation with Malini Agarwal on Not Done Yet, Imran was asked a question many parents eventually find themselves contemplating. When the host asked how he would feel if his daughter grew up and decided to date someone like him, Imran's response revealed how deeply fatherhood has shaped his outlook on life.




"In some way, I guess that is what informs a great number of my life choices. Right. You know, these patterns from our parents. Yeah, it's all inner child stuff. Yeah, for sure. And it is exactly the thought of something like that that drives me to try and be the best possible version of myself."

Rather than giving a straightforward answer, the actor used the question to explain how becoming a parent has made him more conscious of his own behaviour, habits and emotional patterns.

Imran Khan on learning from the past

Imran's remarks touched on a theme he has frequently discussed in recent years: self-awareness. The actor has often spoken about therapy, personal growth and understanding how childhood experiences continue to influence adult relationships.

According to him, many of the patterns people carry into their lives are inherited from what they witnessed growing up. Becoming a parent, however, creates a new level of responsibility because children often learn more from observation than instruction. For Imran, that awareness has become a driving force behind his efforts to evolve as a person.

Fatherhood changed his priorities

The actor has largely stayed away from the spotlight in recent years, choosing to focus on family and personal wellbeing. Throughout that journey, he says his daughter has remained at the centre of his decision-making. Instead of measuring success through career milestones or public perception, Imran appears to view many of his choices through a simpler lens: whether they set the right example for Amara.

His response suggests that the idea of his daughter one day choosing a partner with qualities similar to his own has become an unexpected source of motivation, pushing him to continually improve himself.

Imran Khan's work front

Imran Khan is steadily rebuilding his acting career after a long break from the industry. He has reunited with 'Break Ke Baad' director Danish Aslam for an upcoming film co-starring Bhumi Pednekar, which he is also co-producing. The project has wrapped filming and is currently in post-production. He will also be seen in the comedy-drama 'Happy Patel' alongside Vir Das and Mithila Palkar, and is reportedly working on Netflix's 'Adhure Hum Adhure Tum'.
