Actor Annu Kapoor was recently seen sharing screen space with Ayushmann Khurrana in '

Dream Girl

'. The

actor

has stood out for his brilliant performances in every film that he has been a part of. Some of his movies in the last three decades include 'Utsav', 'Mr India', '

Vicky Donor

', '7 Khoon Maaf', 'Aitraaz' and 'Jolly LLB 2' among others. Besides being an actor, he is also a well-known host and takes people down memory lane through his radio show. Few people know that the

Bollywood

actor actually made his film debut with the Shyam Benegal-directorial '

Mandi

' (1983).

In an interview, he said that the shoot began on September 2, 1982, in Moula-Ali near Hyderabad. It was his co-stars Shabana Azmi and the late Amrish Puri, who made him feel comfortable. Recalling one incident, the actor said that on a particular day, the senior actor noticed that Kapoor’s shoes didn’t look used, which was necessary for the shot. He then picked the shoes and scratched them using a stone to make them look well-used. When Kapoor was rehearsing, Benegal called everyone, including Shabana Azmi and told them to watch him. Kapoor’s first shot was with actress-singer Ila Arun. The actor believes that it is important for an actor to have an inherent nervousness so that he/she remains on guard.

When asked what would be the one thing that he would change about his debut, Kapoor said, “If I get a chance to go back, I won’t begin my career with a comedy role.” The industry tagged him as a comedian, which doesn’t match his personality. The actor candidly said that filmmakers are making a serious man like him do comedy and he is doing it because he needs to keep his kitchen running.
