Akshay Kumar had announced ‘Gorkha’ last year but the film is yet to go on floors. The actor is all set to step into the shoes of Major General Ian Cardozo and narrate his brave story of fighting the way and amputating his leg to prevent gangrene.

The makers had also unveiled Akshay’s first look from this Sanjay Puran Singh directorial and they were to reportedly start shooting from this year. However, ‘Gorkha’ schedule has been pushed to next year by the makers because they want to perfect the script, reports Mid-Day. Apparently upcoming war dramas like Vicky Kaushal’s 'Sam Bahadur' and Ishaan Khatter’s 'Pippa', which will focus on 1971 India-Pakistan war, have led to producers Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma reworking their narrative, which is also set in the same 1971 war. The makers will reportedly work on the script till March 2023 and the film will go on floors in summer.

This year Akshay Kumar faced three setbacks in the form of 'Bachchan Paandey', 'Samrat Prithviraj' and 'Raksha Bandhan'. Speaking about the box office fate of Bollywood films, Akshay had said, “Films are not working, it is our fault, my fault. I have to make changes, understand what the audience wants and there is nobody else to be blamed for it but me."
