Shraddha Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor-starrer '

Half Girlfriend

' will release across 2500 plus screens in India on May 19.

NH Studioz, an initiative of Narendra Hirawat and Co., has bagged the distribution rights of the

movie

, directed by Mohit Suri. "Movies based on adaptations from books by authors like Chetan Bhagat, appeal to the younger generation as we have seen in the past. We have internally seen the content of 'Half Girlfriend', and are enthusiastic about the storyline and performance of the actors."

"For the success of a film, it is important to take the movie to the right audiences. In our last venture for '

Begum Jaan

', the content was very different and strong. As compared to 'Half Girlfriend', 'Begum Jaan' needed to be taken to more mature audiences and that is exactly what we did by limiting the number of screens to 956," Shreyans Hirawat, Managing Director of NH Studioz, said in a statement.

'Half Girlfriend' is an adaptation of Chetan Bhagat's best-selling novel by the same name. Arjun plays the role of

Madhav Jha

and Shraddha essays the role of

Riya Somani

in the film, which is set against the backdrop of three distinct worlds of Delhi, Patna and New York.

In front of a half-full stadium with the match one-and-half hours away from the start, Shraddha, whose next film ‘Half Girlfriend’ is scheduled for a May release, turned on the heat in the final segment of the 21-minute programme, dancing to her hit numbers.
Starting with ‘Tum Hi Ho’ from the blockbuster ‘Aashiqui 2,’ the 30-year old shook a leg to ‘Galliyan’ from ‘Ek Villain,’ ‘The Humma Song (OK Jaanu)’ and ‘Main nachu aj Cham Cham Cham (Baaghi)’ in front of father and veteran actor Shakti Kapoor who was in the stands.
Sporting a golden top and purple coloured track pants, the gorgeous Mumbaikar looked stunning.
Monali, who hails from the city, crooned a number of hits including ‘Moh Moh ke Dhaage,’ ‘Tune Mari Entriyaan’ and the title track of ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya’ which drew the loudest cheers.
The function was a fusion of Bengal's traditional chhau dance and Punjab's bhangra, commencing with a performance by Shillong Chamber Choir.
The chhau dancers introduced the KKR team, while KXIP made an entry with the bhangra dance troupe in the third segment of the opening ceremony.
Home team captain Gautam Gambhir handed Aussie counterpart Glenn Maxwell a ‘Spirit of Cricket’ token.
This is the first time that there are eight opening ceremonies taking place across eight venues. (Pic Courtesy: Viral Bhayani)
Apparently, Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor, who is playing the lead role in Mohit Suri’s upcoming film ‘Half Girlfriend,’ says these days while parents are quite open about the idea of love marriages and live-in relationships, there are many youngsters who are commitment-phobic.
