Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor will be shooting in the city for the Yash Chopra banner’s next, Gunday. The film is set in the ’80s Kolkata.
Arindam Sil, who is doing the line production, said, “This is perhaps for the first time that an out-an-out commercial Bollywood film will be shot in Kolkata. Director Ali Abbas Zafar (of Mere Brother Ki Dulhan fame) is currently doing recce in the city. From Howrah Bridge to Maniktala — the film will feature Kolkata in all its glory.

The unit will be here during the Pujas to take some stock shots. Shooting will begin in February.”
Gunday tells the story of Bikram and Bela — smalltime wagon breakers and coal thieves — who become the biggest black marketing mafia men. “We’ve already held meetings at the Writers’ Building and Lalbazar and we’ve been assured help by the administration and the police. Shooting spans around 45 days,” added Arindam.
