‘Govinda Naam Mera’, ‘Sam Bahadur’, ‘Takht’: Vicky Kaushal’s interesting line-up of upcoming films

Vicky Kaushal has been all over the news in the past week after he tied the knot with his dream girl Katrina Kaif in a royal wedding in Rajasthan. While we expect the actor to go on a vacation with his better half for a much-needed break, reports are rife that he won’t be taking a long holiday owing to his work commitments. From ‘Govinda Naam Mera’, ‘Sam Bahadur’, to ‘Takht’, here we take a look at the interesting line-up of films Vicky has ahead of him.

‘Govinda Naam Mera’

Vicky Kaushal will be coming together with Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar for the first time in Shashank Khaitan’s upcoming film, ‘Govinda Naam Mera’. While Bhumi will be playing his hotty wife, Kiara essays the role of his naughty girlfriend. Shashank’s film, ‘Mr Lele’ with a similar theme was shelved last year. This film appears to be a renewed version of ‘Mr Lele’, which was supposed to star Varun Dhawan in the lead. It will hit the theatres on June 10, 2022.

'Sam Bahadur'

After her hit film, ‘Raazi’ with Vicky Kaushal, Meghna Gulzar will be helming a film based on the glorious life of India's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He was the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army and commanded the Indian forces during the India-Pakistan 1971 war. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Manekshaw, the makers announced the movie title as, ‘Sam Bahadur’.

‘The Immortal Ahwatthama’

Billed as a superhero action film, ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ is being directed by Aditya Dhar of ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike fame’ and will star Vicky Kaushal in the titular role. The makers had announced in October 2020 that the film will go on floors in April this year. But in August, media reports emerged stating that the film has been shelved due to budget constraints. However, the actor has clarified that the film has not been shelved and will be made when the time is right.

‘Takht’

Vicky Kaushal has been roped in for Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial venture, ‘Takht’. The magnum opus boasts of an ensemble star cast that also includes Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi and Anil Kapoor. ‘Takht’ traces the relationship between Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his brother Dara Shikoh.

Laxman Utekar's next with Sara Ali Khan

Vicky Kaushal will be teaming up with Sara Ali Khan for an upcoming film being helmed by Laxman Utekar of ‘Mimi’ fame. Talking about the upcoming film, director Laxman Utekar told PTI, “We have Vicky and Sara for a romantic comedy. It is based in MP, maybe Ujjain or Gwalior. It is a small-town love story, like my previous films, in which I have had a social message.” The makers are planning to release the film in 2022.
