​Genelia Deshmukh’s journey through cinema and beyond​

Genelia became a household name in Telugu cinema after the smashing success of Bommarillu in 2006. Her role as Hasini was loved for its quirky charm and won her multiple awards, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Telugu.

After her South Indian success, Genelia made a strong Bollywood impact with Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na. Her portrayal of the spirited Aditi was refreshing, relatable, and sparked a new wave of female leads with spunk and emotional depth.

In 2022, Genelia made a triumphant return in Ved, a Marathi film directed by her husband Riteish Deshmukh. The couple’s real-life chemistry translated beautifully on screen, and the film became one of the highest-grossing Marathi movies of the year.

Genelia marks her Hindi film return with Sitaare Zameen Par alongside Aamir Khan. Releasing in June 2025, she plays a heartfelt, emotionally layered character in this spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par, exploring themes of empathy, learning differences, and human connection in a fresh, contemporary setting.

Apart from acting, Genelia is a successful entrepreneur and co-founder of an organic lifestyle brand. She champions sustainable living and is also involved in producing content with a social message alongside Riteish under their production house.
