‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘Ram Setu', 'Mr Lele': Film shoots halted due to the second wave of Covid-19

The second wave of Covid-19 across the country has resulted in several Bollywood actors getting infected with the novel coronavirus. From Aamir Khan to Ranbir Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, testing positive, B-town is forced to go under quarantine and several film shoots are being disrupted because of the same. Here's a look at films that have been stalled due to celebs testing positive for Covid-19.

Ram Setu

On April 4, Akshay Kumar informed everyone that he had tested positive for Covid-19. The actor was shooting for ‘Ram Setu’ in Madh island at the time. Following his diagnosis, the shoot was halted. A source revealed to ETimes, “The shoot of ‘Ram Setu’ was scheduled till April 9, however it has been halted. A massive set has been erected in Madh Island and it will remain redundant for some time now. The team of ‘Ram Setu’ was to then travel out of Mumbai for another schedule, but that will also have to be re-worked now.” Directed by Abhishek Sharma, the film also features Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha in lead roles.

Gangubai Kathiawadi

Last month Sanjay Leela Bhansali had tested positive for Covid-19, when working on ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’. While the shoot was halted back then, it was once again stalled after the film's lead actress Alia Bhatt tested positive for the virus. The film is in the last leg of its shoot and an engaging trailer of ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was released on February 24, coinciding with SLB’s birthday.

Mr Lele

Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar were infected with the virus at the same time, while they were shooting for a film together. FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) General Secretary Ashok Dubey confirmed to ETimes, “Vicky and Bhumi were shooting for Mr Lele and have tested positive. The entire unit has stopped shooting. Several junior artists were also tested for Covid-19 but they have tested negative.” The film’s shoot has been stalled till the time its lead actors fully recover.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Kartik Aaryan has recovered from Covid-19 now, but when it was revealed that he had contracted the virus, the team of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ had to temporarily shut shop. The horror-comedy had resumed shoot after several delays and Kartik’s diagnosis once again brought it to a grinding halt. Now that the actor has got a negative Covid-19 report and has started stepping out, he is expected to soon begin work on the Anees Bazmee directorial again. The film stars Kiara Advani as the leading lady.
