How Vicky Kaushal's career-defining films performed at the box office

Vicky Kaushal has come a long way in his career and established himself as one of the most bankable stars in Bollywood. The National Award-winning actor started his career as an assistant director to maverick filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and rose to fame after delivering stellar performances in 'Raazi' and 'Sanju'.

With his recent release 'Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship' starting off on a good note at the box office and multiple projects in his kitty, we take a look at Vicky's career-defining films and how they performed at the box office.

Sanju (Rs 334.57 crore)

Rajkumar Hirani's film 'Sanju' which was based on the life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt saw Ranbir Kapoor playing the lead role. Vicky managed to impress filmmakers within the limited screen time by delivering a stellar performance on the celluloid. The film managed to earn Rs 334.57 crore from its run at the box office and even become one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

​Uri: The Surgical Strike (Rs 244 crore)

Vicky Kaushal teamed up with debutant director Aditya Dhar and hit the bull's eye with their war drama 'Uri: The Surgical Strike'. The film which revolved around the 2016 Uri attack saw the talented actor stepping into the shoes of a military officer. While the film minted Rs 244 crore in the domestic circuit, Vicky's remarkable act in 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' helped him win the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actor.

Raazi (Rs 122.39 crore)

Meghna Gulzar's spy thriller 'Raazi' might have revolved around Alia Bhatt's character Sehmat Khan but Vicky Kaushal too managed to impress the audience with his excellent act. Alia and Vicky's stellar performances helped the film earn Rs 122.39 crore at the box office and several awards as well. The National Award-winning actor once again proved his acting skills in a film which was mainly focussed on the female protagonist.

Manmarziyaan (Rs 25.57 crore)

Post the phenomenal success of 'Sanju' and 'Raazi', Vicky Kaushal joined hands with his mentor Anurag Kashyap for 'Manmarziyaan' which even starred Taapsee Pannu and Abhishek Bachchan. The film which revolved around a love triangle set in Punjab saw Vicky in a never seen before funky avatar which had grabbed everyone's attention. 'Manmarziyaan' earned Rs 25.57 crore at the box office and even received a lot of positive reviews from the critics.

Masaan (Rs 3.80 crore)

Vicky Kaushal, who is the son of stuntman Sham Kaushal grabbed his first leading role in Neeraj Ghaywan's 'Masaan' back in 2015. Since then he has never looked back and gone on to deliver back to back stunning performances on the silver screen which helped him carve a niche for himself. 'Masaan' might have earned just Rs 3.80 crore at the box office but it helped Vicky getting a platform to showcase his acting skills. The critically acclaimed film had even bagged two awards at the Cannes Film Festival.
