Irrfan Khan's highest-grossing films

Irrfan Khan is all set to make a comeback on the silver screen with director Homi Adajania's upcoming film 'Angrezi Medium'. The film has been the talk of the town since the heart-touching trailer of the film with Irrfan's stirring message was released by the makers. With an ensemble star cast comprising of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Madan and Deepak Dobriyal along with Irrfan, 'Angrezi Medium' has grabbed everyone's attention.

Meanwhile, the charismatic actor, who was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour in March 2018, marks his return after a long time with the film. Irrfan has time and again proved his acting skills and the ability to deliver back to back stellar perfomance on the celluloid. But here we look at the critically acclaimed actor's highest-grossing films at the box office

Piku (Rs 78.38 crore)

Ace filmmaker Shoojit Sircar managed to rope in Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan for his 2015 film 'Piku'. The comedy-drama which revolves around the bond between a father-daughter saw Irrfan playing his character of a Rana Chaudhary with sheer brilliance. He teamed up with the likes of Deepika and Big B and won over the audience with a stellar performance. The film went on to earn Rs 78.38 crore at the box office and was showered with praise from all quarters.

Gunday (Rs 73.28 crore)

Irrfan stepped into the character of a policeman in Ali Abbas Zafar's 2014 action-thriller 'Gunday'. The film which also starred Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor was one of the most talked-about films of 2014 due to the leading actor's impressive camaraderie. 'Gunday' managed to mint Rs 73.28 crore in the domestic circuit and even bagged several awards as well. Irrfan too grabbed everyone's attention with his stupendous performance in the film.

Hindi Medium (Rs 63.06 crore)

With a spin-off titled as 'Angrezi Medium' all set to release, Irrfan's 'Hindi Medium' saw him team up with Pakistani actress Saba Qamar to deliver a stunner which showcased the importance of education and what parents have to go through to give their kids the best. The Saket Chaudhary directorial had earned Rs 63.06 crore at the box office but its critical appreciation paved way for a spin-off.

Haider (Rs 49.19 crore)

Touted as one of Shahid Kapoor's best performance, 'Haider' saw Irrfan in an extended special appearance but the talented actor managed to leave an impressive with his brilliant act. The Vishal Bhardwaj directorial which rake in Rs 49.19 crore at the box office also starred maverick actors like Tabu, Shraddha Kapoor and Kay Kay Menon. The crime drama was a modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's Hamlet and Basharat Peer's memoir Curfewed Night which was set in Kashmir.

New York (Rs 45.39 crore)

Kabir Khan's spy thriller 'New York' which released in 2009 saw an ensemble cast of John Abraham, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif teaming up for the first time. The film which minted Rs 45.39 crore in the domestic circuit saw Irrfan portray the character of a FBI Agent. The film was a success given the critical appreciation it received universally.
