​Kangana's rise at the box office

Kangana Ranaut is one of the fearless actresses in B-town, who is known to speak her mind even on controversial topics like nepotism of any other socio-political issues as well. But what has really defined her are her choices of films which stand out as compared to any other actresses in the Industry.

The multi-talented actress, who began her career in 2006 with Anurag Basu's film 'Gangster' won the Filmfare Award for the best female debut and since then she has only gone ahead in her career. With films like 'Panga', 'Thalaivi' and 'Dhaakad' in her kitty, Kangana is all set to go all guns blazing this year. ​Krrish 3 (Rs 175.83 crore)

Hrithik Roshan's superhero series 'Krrish' which originated in 2003 with 'Koi... Mil Gaya' saw the sexiest Asian of the decade team up with Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut in the third instalment of the popular superhero franchise. The film which earned Rs 175.83 crore in the domestic circuit went on to become Kangana's highest-grossing film. It was in 'Krrish 3' that Kangana essayed the character of an antagonist on the silver screen.

​Tanu Weds Manu Returns (Rs 148.84 crore)

After the enormous success of R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut's 2011 film 'Tanu Weds Manu', the makers decided to come up with a sequel which took nearly 4 years. But when the maverick actor collaborated once again for 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' fans just couldn't keep calm and even the box office numbers of the film turned out to be phenomenal as it went on to rake in Rs 148.84 crore. The film saw Kangana playing a double role in the film and both her characters were appreciated by the audience.

​Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (Rs 90.81 crore)

Kangana Ranaut's period drama 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' which released last year was one of her most ambitious project which had run into several controversies before its release. Despite all the disputes, the film released and managed to earn Rs 90.81 crore in the domestic circuit. Apart from playing the titular role in 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', Kangana stepped up and took the reins in her hand after director Krish quit the project midway.

​Queen (Rs 61.47 crore)

Vikas Bahl's comedy-drama 'Queen' turned the tide for Kangana Ranaut in Bollywood as the mesmerising diva managed to carry the film on her shoulders and at the same time gave her career's best performance till date. Her performance was not only appreciated by the audience as well as the critics but the film also went on to mint Rs 61.47 crore as well. With six Filmfare Awards that year, Kangana's 'Queen' which was considered as the underdog went on to steal the thunder from its contemporaries.

​Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai (Rs 58.26 crore)

Ace filmmaker Milan Luthria's gangster saga 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai' which starred the likes of Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai and Randeep Hooda saw Kangana Ranaut essay an integral role. The film which was loosely based on Mumbai's underworld did a good business at the box office by earning Rs 58.26 crore and Kangana and Ajay's chemistry was loved by the audience as well. The film brought the 32-year-old diva into the limelight and her career saw an upward graph.
