From hero to zero: Superstars who vanished after one flop

1/7

Gayatri Joshi – Swades and Sayonara

She had a dream debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Swades (2004), a film now considered iconic. But Gayatri shocked fans by quitting films altogether after that one appearance, choosing marriage and a private life over stardom. One movie wonder, but what a movie to be remembered for!

2/7

Gracy Singh – Lagaan to Lag Gone

After winning hearts in Lagaan and Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Gracy Singh was expected to be the next big female star. But a string of poor script choices and vanishing visibility meant her Bollywood innings ended far too soon. She later found space in TV and spiritual circles.

3/7

Harman Baweja – The Hrithik Clone Who Couldn't Shine

Harman was launched with much fanfare in Love Story 2050, a sci-fi film that flopped spectacularly. Critics compared him to Hrithik Roshan (and not in a flattering way). Despite multiple chances, including Victory and What's Your Raashee?, he never clicked with the audience and soon vanished.

4/7

Himesh Reshammiya – From Mic to Misfire

After a successful music career, Himesh tried his luck as a leading man with Aap Kaa Surroor. While the film saw initial curiosity, his follow-ups (Karzzzz, anyone?) were painful flops. Despite his musical talent, his stint as a hero was short-lived and widely mocked.

5/7

Kumar Gaurav – The One-Hit Wonder

He stormed into hearts with Love Story (1981), a romantic blockbuster that made him an overnight sensation. But the magic fizzled out quickly. His subsequent films tanked, and just like that, Kumar Gaurav disappeared from the marquee. Despite coming from the legendary Rajendra Kumar’s family, Bollywood never forgave his box office failures.

6/7

Rajat Rajat Barmecha – From Udaan to Obscurity

Rajat’s performance in Udaan (2010) was critically acclaimed, and the film is still considered a cult classic. But Bollywood didn’t give him a proper follow-up. Despite a few indie projects and OTT appearances, his breakout momentum was lost.

7/7

Sneha Ullal – Aishwarya’s Lookalike, Not Her Luck

Hyped as the "Aishwarya Rai lookalike," Sneha made her debut opposite Salman Khan in Lucky: No Time for Love (2005). But after the film underperformed, her career never really took off. She vanished almost as quickly as she appeared, proving that looks alone aren’t enough to sustain a career.
