Fighter to Kalki 2898 AD: Deepika Padukone's upcoming films we can't wait to watch

After a triumphant 2023, birthday girl, Deepika Padukone is gearing up for another exhilarating year ahead with some mega-budgeted movies that promise to thrill, chill and captivate audiences around the world. From taking over the skies in Siddharth Anand's 'Fighter' to donning the Khaki uniform in Rohit Shetty's 'Singham Again' and also taking fans on a sci-fi adventure, 2024 promises to be an exciting year for the actress. Let's take a closer look at the upcoming films we can't wait to watch on the big screens.

Fighter

Kicking off the year with a bang, Deepika will take to the skies in Siddharth Anand's action-packed extravaganza, 'Fighter'. Touted to be India's first aerial franchise, the film will see DP play the role of Air Force squadron leader Minal "Minni" Rathore. She will be joine by Hrithik Roshan as 'Patty' and Anil Kapoor as 'Rocky', in the high-octane action film that is slated to release on January 25. After 2023's success with Pathaan, it would be interesting to see if the beauty can recreate the magic and score another Rs 1000 crore film.

Singham Again

Those waiting to watch Deepika play a no-nonsense cop, will have their wish fulfilled when they see her in action in Rohit Shetty's 'Singham Again'. According to the director, DP will feature as Shakti Shetty, the "most brutal and violent officer of our cop universe." The upcoming third installment in the iconic franchise, will feature an ensemble cast that includes Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Jackie Shroff, Tiger Shroff, and Arjun Kapoor. Although there is no official release date, the makers are eyeing a 2024 release.

4/6

Deepika Padukone

In what is touted as the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema, 'Kalki 2898 AD' sees Deepika Padukone stepping up as the leading lady alongside Prabhas in this Nag Ashwin-directed epic sci-fi adventure. The film will reportedly see Prabhas play the role of a modern-day embodiment of Lord Vishnu, while Deepika's role is shrouded in secrecy with the assurance that her character is "of great importance". The film that promises to be a cinematic marvel, also stars Kamal Haasan as the antagonist.

5/6

The Intern

Besides the adrenaline-pumping Deepika Padukone will also be gearing up to step into Anne Hathaway's shoes for the Indian remake of 'The Intern'. The film, which was initially announced with late actor Rishi Kapoor, faced a couple of delays and will now go forward with Amitabh Bachchan joining the cast to take on the character played by Robert De Niro. Buzz is that the film will finally go on floors in January or February 2024, after DP and Bachchan complete their pending work commitments.

SSMB 29

Stepping into the Telugu film industry, Deepika Padukone is also rumoured to feature in SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, 'SSMB29', alongside Mahesh Babu, Pooja Hegde, and Sreeleela. The film, with an Indiana Jones feel, promises a gripping adventure, with Mahesh portraying a character inspired by Hanuman from the Ramayana. Details about the female characters in the film and the potential role DP may play are still.
