February 2020 box office report

After a phenomenal start at the box office, Ajay Devgn and Kajol's period drama 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior' continued with its remarkable run in February as well. The film has been inching closer to the Rs 275 crore milestone and has been giving new releases a good run for their money in the domestic circuit.

While Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan's most anticipated film 'Love Aaj Kal' failing to impress the audience, Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' and Vicky Kaushal's horror drama 'Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship' too struggle to make it big at the box office. With Aditya Roy Kapur and Disha Patani's 'Malang' doing a decent business, February turned out to be quite a flop show for Bollywood films. Check out how films performed in the domestic circuit.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (Rs 42.35 crore)

Ayushmann Khurrana teamed up with Jitendra Kumar for a romance drama which had a fair first week at the box office as their film 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' managed to mint Rs 42.35 crore. The film started on a good note but failed to excel after witnessing a massive drop on Monday. Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao too raised their performance to the next level and managed to impress the audience. According to Box Office India report, the sensitive subject of the film has impacted its run in the domestic circuit.

Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship (Rs 23 crore)

Vicky Kaushal's horror flick 'Bhoot: Part One - The Haunted Ship' which released along with Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan' minted Rs 23 crore from its one week at the box office. The film which received mixed reviews from the critics and audience opened at Rs 5 crore and never took off. With strong competition from other films in the domestic circuit, Vicky's horror flick is surely going to find it tough in the second week.

Love Aaj Kal (Rs 32.62 crore)

Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan's most anticipated film 'Love Aaj Kal' was rejected in most parts of the country and it ended up earning just Rs 32.62 crore. The Imtiaz Ali directorial followed Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' and Kangana Ranaut's 'Panga' path as both of them too turned out to be huge flops in the domestic circuit despite a strong buzz. Even after Valentine's Day release which indirectly helped the romantic film at the box office, the film failed to shine post the first weekend.

5/6

Malang (Rs 54.16 crore)

Disha Patani and Aditya Roy Kapur's romantic thriller 'Malang' which managed to rake Rs 37.94 crore in its first week continued to allure the audience to the theatres in the third week as well. The Mohit Suri directorial which even stars Anil Kapoor and Kunal Kemmu in pivotal roles has reached a total of around Rs 54.16 crore which is way better compared to other releases in February.
