Exclusive: Inside Ayesha Jhulka's home in Bandra; the actress shows off paintings done by her! See pics
Ayesha Jhulka has returned to acting with OTT shows, but her passion for art extends beyond the screen. An art student, she is often immersed in activities like painting. Reflecting on her love for art, Ayesha shares, “We all deserve moments of relaxation, and for me, art has always been a way to unwind. One day, I sat down and made a list of things that truly bring me joy — painting, interior design, creative cooking, and writing were at the top. These are my true loves. It’s important to me to engage in activities that let me express myself and tap into my creativity.”
It took Ayesha six months to do up her sea-facing Bandra apartment, which is now filled with decor pieces collected from around the world. What stands out the most are the sculptures and paintings she created herself, which adorn the walls of her home. Ayesha shares, “For me, art and interior design are about personal fulfilment. I think of a concept, give it a theme, and bring it to life.”
The actress, who has been married for over 22 years to businessman Sameer Vashi, created a sculpture of a man and woman’s faces entwined by a single cloth, symbolising the bond of marriage. She explains, “The cloth represents an inseparable bond between the man and woman. Their eyes are covered, symbolising that in life, there are moments we must accept without fully understanding, allowing us to journey together peacefully and positively.”
In another corner of the drawing room, Ayesha applied the eglomise technique she learned during a course abroad. This French technique involves painting designs on the reverse side of glass to create a reflective, mirror-like finish. She recalls, “I had never worked with glass before, so when I had the chance to study eglomise in Italy, I jumped at it. It involves layering paint and creating a look that resembles embroidery.”
