'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' box office collection day 10: The Harshvardhan Rane, Sonam Bajwa starrer touches Rs 55 crore, begins to slow as 'Baahubali: The Epic' releases
Harshvardhan Rane’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ hit theatres last week on Diwali. The film clashed with Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Thamma’, a big release from Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe. Even ‘Munjya’, a smaller film from the same universe, had done well, so expectations from ‘Thamma’ were very high. It also had a much wider release with nearly three times more shows than ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’. Yet, Harshvardhan’s film has managed to hold its ground and become a hit. It is now his highest-grossing film, surpassing ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’, with over ₹50 crore at the box office.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Movie Review
The movie opened well with ₹9 crore on day one, matching the debut numbers of ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. It stayed steady through the week with ₹7.75 crore on day two, ₹6 crore on day three, ₹5.5 crore on day four, ₹6.25 crore on day five, and ₹7 crore on day six. Monday saw a drop to ₹3.5 crore, but Tuesday brought a slight rise to ₹4.5 crore thanks to discounted ticket prices. On Wednesday, it made ₹3 crore, and Thursday added ₹2.5 crore, taking its total to ₹55 crore nett in India according to Sacnilk.
Meanwhile, ‘Thamma’ has crossed ₹100 crore in India.
Now that the Diwali period is over, collections are expected to slow down. Still, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has performed very well so far. Its extended first week has already crossed ₹55 crore nett, and if it continues to hold well, it could go past ₹75 crore nett, a very strong result.
Since the film is coming out of a long holiday week, the upcoming weekend will be crucial. Post-holiday weekends usually see slower growth, but ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has already proven to be one of the year’s few Hindi hits, the fifth so far. With two months left in the year, fans and trade are hoping for a few more successes to take the total to at least 7 or 8 hits by December.
Meanwhile, 'Baahubali: The Epic' releases today, Friday, October 31 and that may serve as a huge competition o both 'Thamma' and 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' and both the movies have already begun to slow down.
