Filmmaker Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, who is best known for directing the 1991 series, 'Chanakya', has been conferred with the Padma Shri Award. He dedicates the award to his teachers and colleagues and speaking to ETimes, he says, "I have been lucky in getting some extraordinary teachers who inculcated my interest in history and literature. I also got some of the very talented and learned professional colleagues during the making of my series and films who immensely contributed to my learning. I dedicate my award to my teachers and my colleagues."

Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi has worked on projects that are rooted in Indian culture like 'Chanakya', 'Upanishad Ganga', '

Pinjar

' among others. "I always believed in the cinema rooted in our soil, our history and literature," he adds.


On the work front, the filmmaker has directed Akshay Kumar's upcoming project 'Prithviraj', a film based on the life of the mighty Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan that was slated to release worldwide on January 21, 2022, but got postponed due to the pandemic.


Busy working on the finishing touches of 'Prithviraj' he says, "I am thankful to the government for giving me this honour, but I have always been grateful to the Gurus in my life."
