'Don 3' row not over yet: Producers Guild to hold fresh talks as FWICE drops non-cooperation order against Ranveer Singh
The controversy surrounding Ranveer Singh's exit from 'Don 3' continues to simmer, even as the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) officially withdrew its non-cooperation directive against the actor on June 3. The Producers Guild of India is now stepping in for another round of mediation, signalling that a full resolution between Singh and producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani is still some way off.
The upcoming meetings are expected to go beyond just the immediate dispute. The Guild is also looking to establish clearer industry-wide protocols around actor commitments and better protections for producers, a sign that the 'Don 3' row has prompted a wider rethink of how Bollywood handles professional agreements.
FWICE President BN Tiwari used the occasion to extend an olive branch to the actor. He said, "On behalf of the Federation, we would like to request Ranveer Singh to come and sit with us… No one has won or lost in this matter. Our legal department will respond to his legal notice."
With FWICE stepping back and the Producers Guild preparing to re-engage, the 'Don 3' dispute now rests on whether dialogue can bridge the gap between Singh and Excel Entertainment or whether it heads to the courts.
Producers Guild of India to mediate between Ranveer Singh and Farhan Akhtar
According to Mid-Day, the Producers Guild of India is preparing to hold fresh discussions in the coming weeks to resolve the standoff between Ranveer Singh and Excel Entertainment. Manish Goswami, vice-president of the Guild, confirmed the development while stopping short of giving a specific timeline. He said, "The Guild is yet to formally table the deal. From here, it can go two ways. We encourage an amicable resolution and hope the parties can resolve the matter through dialogue. But there is always the court route if that falls through."Production house clears pending payments despite reported loss of Rs 45 crore
Excel Entertainment had alleged a loss of Rs 45 crore following Singh's reported exit from the film, which was set to go on floors just weeks after the fallout. However, the report stated that the production house has since cleared all pending payments to those associated with the project. It read, "All payments were cleared last month. To ensure there's not another instance of loss of livelihood for technicians, we hope this incident changes things for good."FWICE withdraws non-cooperation directive
In a notable development at the June 3 press conference, FWICE formally revoked its non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh, a move that came after the actor reportedly served a legal notice on the cine body challenging the order. FWICE Chief Advisor Ashoke Pandit confirmed the decision was taken following requests from other cine bodies. With FWICE stepping back and the Producers Guild preparing to re-engage, the 'Don 3' dispute now rests on whether dialogue can bridge the gap between Singh and Excel Entertainment or whether it heads to the courts.
