Deepika Padukone admitting to drug chats to Anushka Sharma slamming Sunil Gavaskar’s ‘distasteful’ comment – here are the newsmakers of the week

Bollywood had an eventful week as several celebrities were summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau to join the drug-related probe in connection to Sushant Singh Rajput death case. On the other hand, Sushant’s family lawyer expressed displeasure towards the investigations of the CBI. This week, the music fraternity lost a gem as SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away at 74. The Narcotics Control Bureau summoned Rakul Preet Singh, Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor this week, to join the drug-related probe in connection to Sushant Singh Rajput’s case. While Deepika reported admitted to ‘drug chats’, Shraddha Kapoor denied consuming narcotics substance at a party she attended with her ‘Chhichhore’ co-star. Sara Ali Khan also reportedly denied consuming drugs. All the actresses were grilled by a special team of the NCB.

In a twitter post, Sushant Singh Rajput’s family lawyer Vikas Singh expressed disappointment for the delay by CBI and claimed, “Getting frustrated by the delay in CBI taking a decision to convert abetment to suicide to Murder of SSR. The Doctor who is part of AIIMS team had told me long back that the photos sent by me indicated 200% that it’s death by strangulation and not suicide.” Rhea Chakraborty’s Lawyer, advocate Satish Manshinde had also hit out at the statement and shared, “The Disclosure of a 200 per cent conclusion by an AIIMS Doctor in the team headed by Dr Gupta in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, on the basis of photographs is a dangerous trend. To keep the investigations impartial and free from inference, the CBI must constitute a new Medical Board. The agencies are being pressurised to reach a pre-determined result for obvious reasons on the eve of Bihar Elections.”

Noted singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25, at a private hospital in Chennai. The 74 year old singer was admitted to the hospital after he showed mild Covid-19 symptoms. SP Balasubrahmanyam has to his credit over 40,000 songs that he crooned for Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films. According to PTI, the singer's son SP Charan performed the funeral rites, post which 24 police personnel gave a gun salute and the singer was laid to rest at his farmhouse in Chennai.

Former Indian cricket team captain and commentator Sunil Gavaskar faced ire on social media for a remark he made on Anushka Sharma helping Virat Kohli with his practice during the lockdown. Anushka had termed it as 'distasteful' and questioned him for his statement on 'a wife accusing her for her husband's game'. Sunil Gavaskar had later clarified on his comments on Anushka Sharma, who is the wife of Indian captain Virat Kohli, stating that it had been been misinterpreted.
