'Chakda 'Xpress': All you need to know about Anushka Sharma's Jhulan Goswami biopic

Anushka Sharma, who was last seen in Aanand L Rai's 'Zero', is all set to impress fans with her upcoming sports drama, 'Chakda ‘Xpress'. The actress took to her Instagram handle and dropped a short teaser of it. Anushka got a warm welcome from Twitterati on the teaser. As fans cannot wait to see the 'Zero' actress on the screen once again, here's everything you need to know about the film.

Anushka's comeback film

Anushka was last seen in the 2018 film- 'Zero', starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. Post that the actress was on a sabbatical. Meanwhile, she was producing shows and films. Last year, the actress was in the news for producing a female-forward period thriller featuring Paoli Dam and Rahul Bose. She is also bankrolling Irrfan Khan's son Babil Khan's debut film 'Qala'. 'Chakda 'Xpress' is Anushka's comeback to acting.

Prep time!

After Anushka's pictures went viral on social media a source was quoted in a report saying, “The sequence shows Jhulan (Anushka) enter the field with her team to play a match. Jhulan has a particular way of walking and Anushka practised that along with her. She also sported a similar hairstyle. And the two of them have a similar physical structure too.” Anushka had apparently taken tips from Jhulan before this test shoot.

Stepping into the shoes of Jhulan Goswami

The movie is inspired by the towering figure of the Indian women's cricket team, Jhulan Goswami. Last year, pictures of the actor, walking beside Goswami at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, were shared online, leading to much speculation. Some reports had suggested that the duo was filming an advertisement, others suggest they are working on a promo shoot for the film.

Anushka's first film after Vamika

In 2020, Anushka and Virat took to their social media handles to inform their fans that they are all set to welcome a new member to their family. They welcomed a baby girl in January 2021. Post delivery, the actress was back on the sets within a few days for ad shoots. But this film will be the first one to be shot after having a baby.

Anushka Sharma or Triptii Dimri?

Reports doing the rounds on the internet suggested that Anushka Sharma reportedly dropped out of the project. The report revealed that she will no longer play Jhulan Goswami in her biopic as the project had gone through a major change in the last couple of months. Speculations were rife that 'Bulbbul' actress Triptii Dimri will replace Anushka, but she would still be a part of the film as a producer. Rumours can now be laid to rest and Anushka Sharma is back!
