‘Brahmastra’, ‘Shamshera’, ‘Animal’: Ranbir Kapoor’s big releases to look forward to

Ranbir Kapoor is quite choosy when it comes to films. He might not do 2-3 films a year but whenever he comes on screen, he makes sure it is worth the time of his fans. Ever since his last release ‘Sanju’ in 2018, the audience is eagerly waiting for his next.

The Kapoor lad has a line-up of some very interesting films. From Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ with ladylove Alia Bhatt to Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ co-starring Anil Kapoor, here are upcoming big releases of Ranbir Kapoor that you can look forward to.

‘Brahmastra’

After ‘Wake Up Sid!’ and ‘Ye Jawaani Hai Deewani’, Ranbir Kapoor and Ayan Mukerji have teamed up once again for ‘Brahmastra’. The fantasy drama will also star Alia Bhatt in the lead role. This is the first time the couple will be seen sizzling on the silver screen together.

Apart from Ranbir and Alia, the movie will also feature Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Dimple Kapadia and Mouni Roy in key roles. It was supposed to hit the theatres in December last year. However, it was pushed ahead owing to the pandemic. The new release date is yet to be unveiled.

‘Animal’

After the blockbuster success of ‘Kabir Singh’, South director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is all set with his next Bollywood venture titled, ‘Animal’. The filmmaker has roped in Ranbir Kapoor for the film. The teaser of the movie with Ranbir’s voice in the background has already raised the anticipation levels amongst the fans.

Apart from Ranbir, the thriller will also star Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Parineeti Chopra in lead roles. It will hit the theatres on the occasion of Dussehra in 2022.

‘Shamshera’

Ranbir Kapoor will be seen playing a role that is almost unrecognisable in his upcoming film, ‘Shamshera’. The action period drama will reportedly be set in the 1800s and looks quite promising.

Apart from Ranbir, the movie will also star Vaani Kapoor opposite the actor and Sanjay Dutt in the role of an antagonist in the film. The film was supposed to release in 2020. However, the pandemic delayed the project. Fans are awaiting the new release date.

Talking about working with Ranbir, Shraddha said in an interview with a news portal that she is thrilled to work with the actor. The actress also stated that she had heard so much about Ranbir as a co-star from the people who have worked with him that she was really looking forward to working with him. She also revealed that all that she had heard about him is true and that he is an absolutely amazing co-star.

PK sequel

After making a small cameo appearance in the end scene of Rajkumar Hirani's 'PK’ starring Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor will be taking the story forward in the upcoming sequel of the hit movie.

Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra reportedly told a news portal that they will make a sequel to ‘PK’ in good time. They had shown Ranbir Kapoor’s character landing on the planet towards the end of the film. So now, Ranbir will be taking the story forward. Vidhu also added that writer Abhijat Joshi has still not written the story and they will make the sequel when he does.
