Baahubali, Abhinetri: Tamannaah Bhatia's unglamorous roles

Tamannaah Bhatia is one of the most beautiful and attractive women in showbiz. Her roles are usually tailor made to suit her glowing complexion and her good looks. But like any creative artist, Tamannaah too has, time and again, dabbled with experimental looks that deviate from her mesmerizing looks and impress with their simplicity and rustic charm. Here's five films where Tamannaah ditched the glitz and glam, to play characters that were uniquely alluring.

Tamannaah played the fiesty and swashbuckling Avantika in SS Rajamouli's Baahubali, alongside Prabhas. While she had her glamorous moments in this fantasy epic, for large part, she featured as an arrow shooting, armour clad warrior who wasn't afraid of the elements. Tamannaah's rustic avatar in the film was one of the reasons why the fans appreciated the freshness of Baahubali.

In this horror comedy, Tamannaah played a simple village girl who is married to a man, who is not attracted to her at all. Instead, the man (played by Prabhudheva) desires an alluring, attractive woman akin to a film heroine. Saree clad, pleated hair and sporting a darker complexion, Tamannaah opted for a de-glam avatar in this multi-lingual movie. Eventually, once her character is possessed, she does retain her usual glamorous persona.

In this romantic drama, Tamannaah played Bharathi, a quintessential bank manager. Keeping in line with her character's profession and background, Tamannaah again opted to portray a homely avatar, donning traditional and orthodox Indian clothes. While her character couldn't be called homely by any stretch of the imagination, she was styled in attractive, traditional Indian fashion, but it wasn't the usual glammed-up look that her fans are used to seeing.

This Telugu remake of the Kangana Ranaut's Queen features Tamannaah in an all-out nerdy avatar, replete with eyeglasses that went out of fashion in the 1980s. Tamannaah's Mahalakshmi, like Kangana's Rani was your typical homely girl, with no inclinations towards being modern and/or alluring. But the simplicity and charm of this unglamorous character also worked wonders for Tamannaah's fans.

Her latest film, Babli Bouncer features Tamannaah as a rowdy but happy go lucky girl who chooses the uncommon profession of being a bouncer. Apart from dressing in all-black, androgynous clothing, Tamannaah also features in scenes of wrestling and fighting in this slice of life comedy. It's certainly, an all-new persona for the usually chic and very glamorous actress.
