Anupam Kher opens up about his wife Kirron Kher's cancer treatment in India: 'Rishi Kapoor expressed how difficult it was for him to...'

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who is on the promotional tour for his upcoming film ‘Signature’, recently talked about how certain parts in the movie spoke to him personally because of his partner, fellow actor Kirron Kher's cancer journey.


During a conversation with India Today, Anupam shared, “During the shoot of this film, there were certain scenes that I enacted which I identified with at a personal level. My wife, Kirron, was unwell and was undergoing cancer treatment, so bringing out those emotions on celluloid came from that experience. I feel it’s the culmination of my personal life situations that helped me play this part efficiently.”


The actor further recalled his wife’s cancer treatment and shared that Kirron also got herself treated in Mumbai. The country boasts exceptional medical professionals, and similar to Mahima's recommendation for Hina Khan to receive care domestically, this is a perspective that he strongly advocates. This stance is further reinforced by her recollection of meeting Rishi Kapoor during his illness.


Anupam revealed that for an entire year, Rishi Kapoor was in America, and during their meeting, he conveyed the challenges he faced while receiving treatment away from his home and family. He further added, “Mr Anil Ambani also sent his aircraft to bring Kirron back and got her treated here in India. It’s something that I highly appreciate because it’s so compassionate.”


On the work front, Anupam will be next seen in the OTT film ‘Signature’. Directed by Gajendra Ahire, the film is scheduled to be released on October 4 on Zee5.He is also gearing up for his OTT show Vijay 69 which is backed by Aditya Chopra and directed by Akshay Roy. It is a story of a 69 year old man who decides to participate in a triathlon.
