Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Maalik, Superman: New movie releases to catch in theatres this weekend

From sweeping romance to intense drama and a dash of superhero spectacle, this weekend’s theatrical lineup packs variety and excitement. Whether you're in the mood for love, thrill, or larger-than-life action, these new releases—Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, Maalik, Superman, and more—are ready to light up the big screen. Take a look...

1. Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan

Based on Ruskin Bond's The Eyes Have It, this sweet love tale is about Jahaan, a musician who can't see, and Saba, a secret play actor. They meet on a train, and as they go, they don't know the other can't see. With soft talks and small acts, they fall in love, never seeing one another. It's a story of how we see things, being open, and the unseen links that tie two hearts.

2. Maalik

Set in Allahabad in the late 1980s, Maalik is about the harsh climb of a small-time crook to a big gang leader. Rajkummar Rao is a man torn between wants and what's right, moving through the dark world of crime, power, and lies. With power comes a cost—and Maalik must choose if he rules the roost or it rules him.

4/6

3. Superman

James Gunn's new take sets Clark Kent as a young news guy in Metropolis, stuck with his Krypton roots and earth life. As he takes on two lives, Superman must face a world that doubts if being kind and full of hope is smart. Taken from All-Star Superman, it looks at what we leave behind, fitting in, and the soft power of the hero.

4. Udaipur Files

Based on the real 2022 killing of Kanhaiya Lal, this crime film deals with the scary times after a big fight over faith. The film shows what happened before the killing, the mess in politics and society, and how it hit the victim's family. It’s a deep, true look at what is fair, deep hate, and what keeping quiet can cost.

5. Doora Theera Yaana

A soft road love story from Bangalore to Goa, this film lets us follow two tech workers—a violin player and a flute player. On their trip, they find out more about themselves. As they move through green fields and quiet towns, their music and feelings mix, showing the layers of new love and how being with another can heal.
