‘Aankh Marey’

The original version of ‘Aankh Marey’ appeared in the film ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ released in 1996, but it received a new rendition with an energised remix style in the movie ‘Simmba’ starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. The new version featured very upbeat beats and more dance-oriented choreography. The energetic beats and the well-known hook made it easy for everyone to identify the new version, while the contemporary production made it a perfect club song. As a result, it quickly became a party favourite across several playlists due to nostalgia and its existing popularity.

‘Cheez Badi’

The song ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’ from the 1994 film ‘Mohra’ was transformed into ‘Cheez Badi’ for the 2017 film ‘Machine’. The remix targeted a younger audience with its club-friendly arrangement. While opinions were divided, the song gained traction among listeners unfamiliar with the original. Its catchy rhythm made it a frequent pick at parties. The remake introduced the classic tune to a new generation.

‘Dilbar’

First sung by Alka Yagnik in the 1999 film ‘Sirf Tum’, ‘Dilbar’ found new life years later with a glamorous revamp. The recreated version featured Nora Fatehi and showcased a strong Middle Eastern influence. Her performance added a visual spectacle that elevated the song’s appeal. The remix went on to break records, becoming the first Hindi song to cross one billion views on YouTube. It marked a turning point for Bollywood dance numbers.

4/7

‘Laila Main Laila’

‘Laila Main Laila’ first appeared in the 1980 film ‘Qurbani’ and was later recreated for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Raees’ in 2017. The remix featured Sunny Leone and blended retro elements with modern music production. The song retained its classic melody while adding a polished, contemporary edge. Its placement in the film added to its popularity. Fans appreciated how the remake honoured the original track.

5/7

‘Saaki Saaki’

Originally part of the 2004 film ‘Musafir’, ‘Saaki Saaki’ was remixed for the 2019 action drama ‘Batla House’. The updated version featured a heavier bass line and contemporary beats. Nora Fatehi’s powerful dance performance became the highlight of the song. Its infectious tempo made it a favourite at parties and dance events. The remix managed to stand out while respecting the original’s vibe.

6/7

‘Tamma Tamma Again’

The iconic ‘Tamma Tamma Loge’ from the 1990 film ‘Thanedaar’ was reimagined as ‘Tamma Tamma Again’ in ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. This version combined Badshah’s rap elements with the song’s original rhythm. Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s energetic screen presence added freshness. Despite the modern twist, the remake stayed true to the spirit of the original. It went on to dominate music charts upon release.

‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’

Rain songs and Bollywood are inseparable, and ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ from ‘Mohra’ remains one of the most iconic examples. The song received a glossy remake in the 2021 film ‘Sooryavanshi’, featuring Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar. The recreated version stayed close to the original while updating the visuals and sound. Its release sparked conversations across social media. The song once again proved its timeless appeal.
