Yesterday, Mumbai Mirror reported how Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Arjun Rampal and Madhur Bhandarkar have slashed their fees for the latter's film, Heroine; to restrict the budget of the film to 18 crores. One can easily see the present condition of the film industry, in terms of finances. In accordance to that, get ready for India's first zero budget Hindi film, Befikar Besahare.
The film is an ambitious project by an MBA graduate, Rutwij Vaidya, mostly shot in Pune and some parts of Mumbai.
The film is a light mood romantic situational comedy, with a strong social message. Rutwij explains, "A well known trust offered to produce the film, but their conditions were disgusting. But I knew that I wanted to make the movie and I gave it my best.” The film revolves around the lives of six care-free MBA students, who learn to respect older people and the need to help them out.
This is the first film ever made in the history of Indian Cinema, which has absolutely zero budget. Right from the actors, make-up, sound, editing, studios, to location and catering, all have been free of cost. Vaidya adds, "People got connected with this project because of my rapport with them. Major portion of the film was shot in Bharatiya Vidyapeeth Institute (IMED) in Pune.”
"I want my project to reach the audience. I would appreciate if we can join hands for making this film an eye-opener for today's care free, fast moving youth," Vaidya said. Even well-known social welfare personality Sindhutai Sapkal has agreed to be a part of the climax scene. The film will be released in mid August 2011.
