She Started Acting at the Age of 4

Sridevi began her career as a child artist in the Tamil film “Kandhan Karunai” (1967), where she played the role of young Lord Murugan. Her talent was evident even then, and by the time she was a teenager, she had already acted in multiple South Indian films. She transitioned into adult roles at a very young age—just 13—opposite actors much older than her.

She Never Received Formal Training in Acting or Dance

Despite being celebrated for her graceful dance moves and strong screen presence, Sridevi never received any formal training in dance or acting. Everything she delivered on-screen was a result of sheer natural talent, keen observation, and dedication. Her performances in films like Chandni and Mr. India showcased her impeccable comic timing, emotional depth, and dancing prowess.

She Dubbed for Herself in Hindi Despite Language Barriers

Sridevi’s mother tongue was Telugu, and she primarily worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada films before entering Bollywood. Initially, her Hindi was weak, and her voice was dubbed in her early Hindi films. However, she worked hard on the language and eventually started dubbing her own dialogues, showcasing her commitment to mastering every aspect of her craft.

She Was a Painter and Had Planned an Art Exhibition

Few people know that Sridevi was also an accomplished painter. She used painting as a creative outlet during her sabbatical from films after marriage. Her husband, Boney Kapoor, once revealed that she had planned to hold an art exhibition of her works, but her untimely demise in 2018 halted those plans.

Steven Spielberg Offered Her a Role in “Jurassic Park”

Sridevi's fame wasn’t limited to Indian cinema. Hollywood director Steven Spielberg reportedly offered her a role in the iconic 1993 film “Jurassic Park”, but she turned it down as she was at the peak of her Bollywood career at the time. She didn’t want to take on a supporting role in a Hollywood film while leading major projects in India.
