A city is not just a place where you live, but a place where you belong. A city is all about the memories we create, the people we connect with, or the values we imbibe. And in course of time, the city becomes a part of our inner self. As Ahmedabad turns 610 today, we ask some prominent faces from the city about what Ahmedabad means to them and the place it holds in their hearts.
AHMEDABAD HAS GIVEN ME EVERYTHING, I OWE MY SUCCESS TO THIS CITY: MALHAR THAKARAhmedabad is my life.
Whatever I am today, is because of this city and its people. The kind of love I have received here is beyond words. I will always be indebted to the city and its people for making me who I am. I have seen this city grow and embrace various cultures without losing its own charm. I’ve spent time walking through the Walled City, enjoyed the glitter of the new hangout zones, have been to all places that serve good tea and coffee, and have created some amazing memories. I have travelled to various countries, but I don’t think I can live anywhere else but Ahmedabad.
I MISS AHMEDABAD’S FOOD WHEN I AM AWAY FROM THE CITY: ALISHA PRAJAPATIStaying away from your hometown makes you realise what it means to you. Whenever I am in Mumbai for work, I miss Ahmedabad dearly. And it is not just because I am away from home, but it is also about how you feel in your city. I feel belonged here. The streets you roam in, the food you enjoy, your friends, the memories you have created makes you who you are and Ahmedabad is the city that has made me who I am. I might be in Mumbai for professional reasons, but emotionally I am always in Ahmedabad. And when I am in Mumbai, I miss the local food the most. People say that Mumbai’s vada pav is the best, but I beg to differ. Be it having chaat on CG Road, dalwada during monsoon, fafda-jalebi during Dussehra, or global cuisine with a desi twist, the list is just too long.
